made by  Gauri varshney

COMPONENT-  sqaures made out of toothpicks
in reality thought of making this structure out of bamboo and rope.

AIM-  to create an arch
.
PLACEMENT- each square is stacked on top of each other with a slight bend towards right handside so as to give it a form of arch.

PROBLEMS- raw material was expensive.
not able to find ways of interacting with public. structure would have lost its dynamism in 15 mins.

  1. Gauri, this is a type of corbelling. check it out in the library... essentially it is when you stagger the successive courses of brickwork on the top of a wall towards the outside so as to create a decorative element. this principle is also used to create a 'squinch' which is the protruding masonry from the corner of a square room to create a support for a domed roof above... try wikipedia on these and you will find more details too. the model and form is interesting but i dont think this is really a repetitive component structure...
